Heart 200 is a unique route that will connect to nature, history and yourself.
Whether you are looking for a romantic break, a relaxing and wellness journey, an exploration of historical attractions or simply a new adventure, Heart 200 is the perfect route to experience all these things and more.
One of the many exciting things that attracted me to this route is how this stunning journey links two of the most beautiful Scottish two national parks, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs and the Cairngorms.
Of course, passing through Stirling, the Perthshire and beautiful places like Blair Athol up north will be the highlight of your journey too.
You can visit Stirling, the once capital of Scotland, rich with history and place where many Kings and Queens were crowned. From its Castle to the Wallace Monument Stirling must be included in your itinerary!
Driving North East you will arrive in Perth. Take a stroll along its two Inches parks while you see the River Tay pass through the city. Visit the Black Watch Castle and Museum and its collection of different military items or enjoy the temporary exhibition. Continue your journey through a marvellous natural landscape, with The Rivers Tummel, Braan, Ericht and Tay running along the way.
Visit the lovely Pitlochry and escape to the Faskally Forest. Enjoy its diverse wildlife, woodland trails and the tranquil Loch Dunmore. Now explore the Hermitage waterfall on the River Braan near Dunkeld or stop at the Lowes Nature Reserve and see if you can spot red squirrels or even a beaver.
After a lovely time in nature is time to visit the majestic Scone Palace and its stunning grounds.
Now its time to continue your journey up north where you will have the opportunity to see Loch Tay one of the most beautiful in Scotland. Do you want some exciting things to do in nature? Visit the hidden gem of Aberfeldy. Enjoy white water rafting or go to the Highland Safaris to see Scottish wildlife.
Or follow the BiketraX trail of ramps for some Mountain Biking thrills! After all this excitement you can end this section of your route in Britain’s largest national park, the Cairngorms.
To conclude the route travel West to Doune Castle, a famous location for movies and tv shows (Castle Swamp in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and more recently Castle Leoch in Outlander).
Be amazed by the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park where you can hike Ben Lomond for stunning views or walk around Queen Elizabeth Forest Park to see some red squirrels.
If you want to try something different you can zip from tree-to-tree at Aberfoyle or take a boat trip on lovely Loch Katrine. These of course are just few of the places you can visit and things you can do.
Heart 200 is a fantastic circular route with many activities for avid walkers, cyclists and explorers!
Visit the Heart 200 website to get the best of this fantastic route.
